Occasionally Dirk and I watch "The Biggest Loser" on NBC. We're not die hard fans, but we'll tune in for part of it (not the whole thing--it's on the same time as Scrubs.)
Well, Jillian, a trainer on the show has her own line of work-out videos, of course. I read weight loss and work out message boards and everyone has been raving about one of her videos called "30 Day Shred." It was on sale for $8 on amazon.com so I bought it.
The first one was stolen off our porch. Suckers! Amazon was awesome and sent me a free replacement, which came today. We decided to try it out together. Dirk usually won't be caught dead doing workout videos, but we watched it first and it's just jumping jacks, crunches, lunches, etc. There are no Richard Simmons crazy dance moves. He said he'd give it a shot.
Let me just say, for 20 minutes our house was ridiculous. First of all, Sophie thought that jumping jacks meant PLAY so she kept running at us and barking. Then when we went down to do push-ups, she would crawl under us, lick our faces and attacking our hands. Then she started jumping on Dirk, snorting, trying to get him to play with her. By this time we were both laughing so hard we couldn't concentrate. We had to pause the video and fill a kong with peanut butter just to get her to leave us alone.
Dirk filled it up with enough peanut butter to last 20 minutes, or so we thought.
This video is pure agony. You're up, you're down, your jumping, moving, lunging... and I know at one point both Dirk and I were laying on the floor like beached whales struggling to get back up. By this time we are sweaty and panting and Sophie comes shooting back in, "I'm done with my peanut butter! Let's PLAYYYYYYY!"
At the end, Dirk said, "I like my fat."
Between the laughter, and the work out, I think I burned a bazillion calories today. It's a GOOD workout, we are just fat and out of shape. I'll do it again, but maybe I'll hook it up in the attic... or somewhere away from the dog.
Right now my legs and abs are burning, so it definitely works! I'll let you know more in 30 days.

I used to do Pilates videos and my dogs would come curl up on my stomach or stand on my side if I was laying on my side. I was doing yoga poses around my sister-in-law's dog and it started barking at me. Exercise and pets don't mix.
